About the IoT Library
While the world of IoT is about connecting things; the IoT world consists of a lot of disconnected islands. Different standards / vendors that all have their own ecosystem that is (mostly) disconnected from the rest.
Let's change that!
The thing that matters is your data; IoT is just a means to an end; so you should not be vendor locked in by the choice of provider / protocol.
This one of the reasons we built the IoT Exchange. While building it and doing research for it we found more and more parts of the IoT world that were little islands. So by bringing the data for all vendors / products / standards together in one place we hope to contribute start the conversation about what choices there are and how we can work together to make IoT live upto the hype is always have been.
Future ideas:
- building tooling around the available data for example:
- a vendor independent firmware flashing tool that uses this database to identify the connected device and list the available firmware versions
- a cli tool to quickly get started on custom firmware (by automatically setting up your dev environment with the relevant sdk, libraries etc)
And yes all of this requires a ton more data and work ..
For vendors that support this effort; please get into contact with us we would love to work together!
